Elizabeth is currently studying a 10773NAT Certificate IV in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) with another provider, with a need to complete her in-person placement hours and gain practical, real-world experience.
Elizabeth reached out to us to complete her placement, by sitting in and teaching a class for our Foundation Skills Program. Initially nervous about sitting in on a class and even more so teaching one, this was overcome with the support and mentoring of trainer Minh. The kindness of our learners was also uplifting, leading Elizabeth to teach her first lesson without any of the struggles she anticipated.
“I had lots of fun. It was nice to learn how versatile you can be when delivering the training.”
Through her placement, Elizabeth was able to achieve her goals and gain valuable experience in a real classroom. By interacting with our students, Elizabeth witnessed first-hand the diverse range of learners looking to improve their English, as well as the important reasons they were each enrolled.
“I was surprised by the various ages of the students within the class as well as their varied reasons for learning English.”
Elizabeth was an absolute delight to have in our classes and the Kilkenny team enjoyed having her around observing each lesson. After she completes her qualification, Elizabeth hopes to find work as an ESL teacher or an online or in-person English tutor.
All the best for the future Elizabeth, it was a pleasure having you at Pivot Training Kilkenny!
